I never had my camera along at the right times today, so there's no picture. I guess there's no reason that I must always post a picture with my ramblings.
We started the day off with a nice celebratory breakfast at IHOP. Both kids had the "Who Cakes" from Horton Hears a Who. If you haven't seen them, I recommend you head on over to IHOP. It is a big stack of pancakes, covered with bright berry syrups and tiny, bright chocolate chips. The stack is made complete with a lollipop sticking out the top. It truly made Basia's day to start off with Grandmother and Aunt Saralyn AND Who Cakes. What four-year-old could ask for more??
We then did the usual stuff (school and cleaning up some of the garage) for much of the day. I also have been working on long-term lesson planning for Brishen's schooling. The list of books I want him to read over the next year is truly daunting. I really have to figure out how to narrow down my list a bit. This is when it would be nice if I chose one curriculum instead of trying to combine so many great ones. I just have to do things the hard way.
The kids had a birthday party at Peter Piper this evening, so more junk food and fun. We then headed to White Sands Missile Range to pick up my race packet. EEK! Sunday's the day for my second marathon--this one has a mountain to climb and lots of sand to trek through. I'm just hoping to live to tell about it!
