Our Week, In Review

We got to celebrate Super Wesley's 4th birthday...
 with hats...

and 'staches...

and a hand made R2D2 pinata that was bigger than my kids!

Let's just say that my kids figured out the whole "run and grab candy as quickly as you can" part of their first ever pinata!

For just a moment I let myself believe that "making a tent in the living room" really would just mean two chairs and one sheet.  Yeah, right.  Like that's ever how it turns out.

The day after irrigation weekend, this is what we found in the ditch.  Basia found one fish that was still wiggling a little.  She then walked the ditch and found four more.  She scooped them up and returned them to the Rio Grande.  She loved being a hero.

Haircut time around here means an assembly line of boys.  Jon cut the hair of five boys one night this week.  He saves us a lot of money!!  We couldn't convince Brishen to keep this 'do.

We had our very own "shark week" around here!

When a surprise knock at the door brings the above delicacies, we rejoice!!  Our backyard neighbor who goes to our church had some food left over from her son's send-off party.  She said that she had enough food left for a "little army" and then thought instantly of us and our little army.  We got veggies from her garden, too!

Brishen and Basia spent a full day adding some purple to Cassia's room.  She no longer has to share her room (Sir Smiles was her roomie), and it's no longer a foster kid room.  It's her room, and she's here for keeps, so this was a big moment!

We did what we could to spruce up Edison and Zade's room, too, although we didn't actually paint it or buy any accessories, yet.  Their time will come.

My cousin kept posting pictures of her home daycare kids playing with cups like these.  It seemed they were getting a lot of use out of them, so we decided to give them a try.  They have been a huge hit!  Below is Zade and his very best buddy.

The kids made their own biscuit pizzas this week.  They were about the messiest, cheesiest ones I have ever seem in my almost 16 years as a parent!

This little man first stood without holding onto anything with only Brishen as a witness.  The next day he did it for Dany, the caregiver.  The day after that I finally got to see it for myself.  I decided it was time to get out the fancy push toys so he can practice his walking.  Sir Smiles taught me, however, that the chair above is way better than any fancy push toy, so Roo is now pushing around his chair, walking like the big guys.

I am being a nice mom and giving Brishen a pass on most family interaction and room cleaning right now.  He is recreating tons of Lego sets that had been destroyed by a move or two or by a sister's wild friends visiting.  He had these put away for quite a while, but he finally decided to tackle the monumental task of rebuilding.  We haven't seen him since.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
