Snippets From Our Day

I just love this age, when helping is still fun and something they beg to do. This week Basia has been sweeping up by the back door whenever she takes off her shoes and makes a mess--all on her own--without me ever asking her to do it! Today she saw me sweeping and asked if she could do the dining room for me.

Brishen ran to get me to quickly look out the window this afternoon. This little guy was in our front flower bed. It's a picture taken through the window as he was leaving, but it's proof. I have literally never seen a squirrel in our neighborhood before. I'm wondering if he's moved into one of our trees.

It was afternoon. The kids (3 of them, including the 23-month-old I watch) were a bit restless. I wondered what to do with the girls, since they'd done painting, coloring, markers, and play doh this week already. The little one isn't really old enough to glue on her own, unless, I figured out, I painted the whole page with glue and ripped up paper for her to put on the page. Ah, mosaics. Brishen wanted in on the fun, too, and he made a really neat piece of art.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
