Camping and Hiking

We were fortunate to get to go camping and hiking again this weekend. We camped at Iron Creek. It was such a beautiful spot. Our one complaint? It is COLD way up in the mountains at night after lots of rain!
This is Basia and I trying to warm up after a night in our chilly tent. We tried to pack more lightly this time. That meant that we didn't have quite the warm clothes that we needed. We are still new campers, and we are learning as we go!

This is the creek that ran through the campground. This particular spot was so peaceful and gorgeous that I could have stayed and stared for hours. After staying at Three Rivers and seeing no rivers and only a few mucky puddles, it was nice to fall asleep to the sound of an actual running creek.

After a night in tents and a warm breakfast at a Hillsboro cafe (we certainly know how to rough it!), we met our church hiking group, including Grandmother, to hike the other side of Emory Pass. Basia had a rougher time than the rest of us since the grass was often up to her head. In all it was at least a seven mile hike, and we were rained on for the second half. The view at the top was just amazing--honestly the best we have ever seen. We have to keep it captured in our memories because the weather prevented a great picture. Our to-do lists got neglected for another weekend, but we are so happy to have taken time to enjoy nature and each other!

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
