A Little Heartbreaking

We had bilingual storytime at church today. We again handed out backpacks and school supplies to some of the children in need. We had tons of supplies at the start of the hour but still ended up having to turn parents away. Luckily we were able to give something to each child there. It was just so sad that we ran out of supplies to send home with the parents whose children were not there today. There is such a large need, and it is sad to not be able to help everyone out. If you happen to see a great sale (or clearance next month) on school supplies, we have storage space to save them for next year. I don't think we could ever have too much.

How very sad that it takes so much money just to go to school anymore. I heard that a teacher spends over $1000 on average a year out of her/his own pocket for supplies for kids too.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
