Calm Kind of Day

Today was really a nice, calm day at the Moore house. There are so few days when we are not running around trying to make it to certain places by certain times. Jon had the day off (mostly), so it was nice to have him around, too. Jon and Brishen started the morning off by finishing a game of Risk--Brishen was the victor.

We got a free, one-week trial of Rosetta Stone language software. Brishen did at least three weeks' worth of Spanish lessons. Then Jon decided to learn some Polish. Then Brishen studied some Irish. Brishen also did a bit of Swahili, Portuguese, British English, and who-knows-what else.

Then Jon and the kids went to the bowling alley for some fun with homeschool friends. I spent a couple hours this afternoon at our local used bookstore, trying to find some of the long list of books I want for our next historical time period in school. Now Jon is off at the theater watching the newest Bond movie, Brishen's at a basketball game with his granddad, Basia's in bed, and I am enjoying a quiet house. A good day indeed.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
