Halloween

Here it is. The first costume of Brishen's that I had no say in. The males in the family put this lovely look together. This is my sweet, innocent baby as the grim reaper.

Basia was very proud when a man at the library asked her is she was a "real astronaut" and asked to shake her hand. He later even cleared the way for the "astronaut" to get through.

Here is Jon, getting into the spirit.

Every year my mom has a Halloween Tea Party for us. It is always awesome. This time, she greeted us as "Nibbles" the mouse in a great big mouse hole.

Here are some close-ups of her mouse house.

And here are some of the treats:

Frankenstein in a coffin

Hairy fingers

Gooey goblins

We also went across town for some trick-or-treating at Aunt Saralyn's house, which is also a Halloween tradition. Once it got dark we met up with a group of friends for some more trick-or-treating. Brishen is actually old enough now to be one of the "older boys" who went off on their own around the block. How did that happen? The younger girls (and one boy) stuck with the parents and led us zig-zagging across the street over and over again to get to all the houses with lights on. Once we got back to the base house, the kids all dumped out their candy and swapped favorites with each other. They all had a lot of fun!

I don't want to leave out another important event of the day. Jon and I voted. It was right after the tea party, so Jon was still in costume. Gumby waited in a long voters' line, and they even let him vote.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
