I am trying to maintain a significant weight loss, and these things do not help:
1. various containers of frosting (made as instructed with lots of vegetable shortening and whole milk) in the refrigerator at all times
2. a tall, filled, decorated cake (made for maximum height with jumbo eggs and 2-3 boxes of cake mix) each week needing to be consumed by someone, and I happen to have no problem substituting balanced meals and snacks with a slice of cake, often more than once a day
3. cake remnants from leveling the cake and from the left over batter, great for those days between consuming one cake and waiting for the next one to be decorated
That 10-inch torted, filled, decorated cake that I recently posted a picture of is now mostly in my trash can. I saved enough for each of us to have a slice today, but the rest had to go. I wish I had a large get-together planned, so lots of people could have each enjoyed a small piece, but I knew from the past few weeks' experience that it was more likely that a very few people were going to be eating a whole lot of cake. I also emptied all of my frosting bags and bins into the same garbage can. A small part of me was sad to see it go, but the biggest part of me was relieved to be free from that constant temptation.
Oh, I almost forgot that I am also glad the class is over because of all the messy homework and all the super-messy clean-up after class! I was reminded of that again this morning as I washed bag after bag, container after container, and tip after tip.
Being glad the class is over doesn't mean I'm not crazy enough to sign up for another one somewhere down the road. I'd love to learn how to work with fondant!
