An Ultra Decision

I realized recently that I never announced on my blog that I decided to back out of the ultra marathon. Training for a marathon takes a lot of time, but training for an ultra takes up more time than I could find. Starting in the first months of training, I was supposed to be doing a long walk of 20-35 plus miles every single week. That's hours and hours of walking. I decided to bow out and let someone else in my place, since there was a waiting list. I am now signed up as a volunteer for the ultra, so I will get to see it from the other side this year and decide if I ever want to try to do it myself.

In the mean time, I started the training schedule for the Bataan Memorial Death March marathon in late March. This is week 2 of 18 weeks of training. The early weeks are almost too easy for me, but I figure it will be nice to slow down and build up the miles again. Bataan was my favorite race so far, and I look forward to doing it again.
