Finally! Ever since I did the Bataan Marathon last March, I've been searching high and low for "those things that some runners wore over their shoes to keep out the rocks." I originally had no idea what they were called. Then I figured out that they are gaitors, but I could not find any in any store anywhere. When I visited in other cities, I'd stop by their running stores, but I never had any luck.
Then I volunteered for the Ghost Town Ultra. Runner after runner sported those same types of gaitors. Those volunteering at our station made a couple comments about those "Dirty Girls." I finally figured out that they were talking about the gaitors, so I asked where I could find some. They told me the website: http://www.dirtygirlgaitors.com/
Mine arrived in the mail on Saturday. This promises to be a much more comfortable Bataan Memorial Death March! I won't miss the piles of rocks in my shoes for the 26.2 miles.
