I went in to the doctor today to have him look at my incision. He said that it is open a bit, but that, as long as I keep it clean, it will heal just fine. He gave me a prescription for some cream to help with the itching and redness. He cleared me for driving and increasing my activity level starting on Wednesday.
The doctor also brought up my chart from the surgery to let me know what was found. Everything was benign, which is good, but there was a lot going on in there. My uterus was twice the size it should have been. I had adenomyosis, endometriosis, and lots of adhesions. My right ovary was left in, and it looked OK, but there is a chance that endometriosis will someday cause it to need to be removed. All in all, it was very obvious why I was in so much pain, why my periods were so horrible, and also why I never got pregnant again. I'm so glad that I decided to go through with surgery, even when I had no idea about all those issues.
I am feeling pretty good, considering. I read that internal stitches dissolve around day 12, and that it causes new pains and issues when the body has to start holding itself together without the stitches. I think I could feel that yesterday. I was in more pain during the morning hours than I had been in a while. I spent most of the day in my chair but was able to take a nice walk mid-afternoon. I feel better today. I'm tired after getting the homeschooling going again this morning and a trip to the doctor, so I'll soon be napping.
Overall, I really think my body is doing a good job of healing.
