Venturing to the Eastern Shore

I have lots of pictures of our special time back in the Eastern Shore of Maryland after more than 7 years away. I will post them in the next day or two. These are from our first moments there. We were greeted by the above sign in front of the church. That was the same sign that announced Brishen's birth over 10 years ago. It was strange to see our old house torn down and a new, modern one in its place. There were other changes on the islands, brought by a hurricane. Houses were gone. Land was washed away. People moved from the lower island to the upper one. There was a lot that was still the same, though, and it was great to be back.
Jon preached many sermons at Hoopers and Hosier when he was a student pastor during seminary. The insides of the churches really look quite the same. They are beautiful, small churches that still leave the doors unlocked and look much as they did a hundred years ago.

We stopped for a picnic lunch in Cambridge at Sailwinds Park. I used to take Brishen to that park when he was little. It was our first chance to put our feet in some water, so we took advantage.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
