Brishen had a great week at his two camps. He won an award at robotics camp for building the tallest tower of the 30-some kids who were all give the same number of Legos. He was the class expert at pulling apart Legos that others couldn't get apart. He was there to help others who couldn't quite figure out how to build the projects. He was only sad that he couldn't be with the older classes because he saw that their kits were much bigger and more complicated. Next year.
I went to pick him up on his last day of basketball camp. I explained to him on Monday to just have fun and not worry about winning any competitions. Again he failed to listen to me. I arrived in time to see the awards ceremony. He got 3rd place overall in free throws and 1st place overall in Knock Out. He definitely is starting to take after his mom--just kidding, for those who don't know me well. I got to remember back to the days when I went to basketball camp in Dexter. Those were some fun times, and I even got to hang out with a former teammate and fellow camp goer on Monday to reminisce.
It seemed like a really strange first week of summer. We usually spend a lot of the first week at the library, some time eating lunch at the park, and some time swimming. Instead we spent the week getting Brishen to and from the appropriate places and didn't get to the pool or the park at all. We finally made it to the library, but the kids have only finished the first level of the reading program, when they are usually done withing a couple days. Actually, Brishen is probably still sneakily reading in his room, so he's probably made it to level three or so by now.
Jon was off at Annual Conference until Saturday night. Now he actually gets to stay home until mid-July. I'm hoping this week will be more relaxing and that we will spend more time doing our usual summer things. I miss posting pictures, but there are now some extra steps to getting them posted, and I just don't often feel like going through the trouble. One of these days I'll post all the highlights of our last month because there have been some great times!!
