Book Challenge, Week 28

Brishen:
39. Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Melani:
42. Dreaming Water by Gail Tsukiyama
I read this book for our church's book club. I will be leading the discussion this time. The book was interesting and fun/easy to read. Once I started thinking about leading the discussion, I realized that there will be plenty to discuss! It is about a woman who has a disease that makes her age at twice the normal rate. Even though she's in her late thirties, she is much like an 80-year-old. Her mother cares for her, and much of the book is about their relationship.

43. Miss Manners' Basic Training: Eating by Judith Martin
I am disturbed at time by the not-so-great eating habits of my children. I decided that I better know what I was talking about before I embarked on a campaign to teach them some table etiquette. I now know enough to drive my children crazy (and others, too.--just ask Saralyn).

44. The Moved-Outers by Florence Crannell Means and Swift Rivers by Cornelia Meigs
These are a couple children's books, both Newberry Honor winners, that I'm having Brishen read. The Moved-Outers gives a glimpse into the detainment camps for Japanese-Americans during WWII. Swift Rivers is an interesting book about a boy's struggle to move logs down the Mississippi River to sell. I'm only giving myself half credit for these books, since they are for younger readers.

Jon:
25. The Subtle Knife by Philip Pulman
26. Cold Comfort Farm by Stella Gibbons
