I don't know if it is the heat or the competition or a nasty combination, but my family has joined the ranks of mall walkers. Yes, along with 92-year-old ladies and their therapists, you may now be seeing the Moore Four on a trek through the Mesilla Valley Mall.
A program through our health insurance issued us pedometers and gives us rewards (money) for taking lots and lots of steps. They started a nation-wide contest today. We are on teams and trying to get the most steps from now until mid-August. They decided, for some unknown, probably cruel, reason, to do this particular contest when our temperatures are hitting 104 or so. That means, it is only comfortable walking weather between 4 and 6am or after 9pm.
Unless, you decide to become mall walkers, that is.
