Book Challenge, Week 30 and 31

Brishen:
40. The Last Olympian by Rick Riordan
41. Eldest by Christopher Paolini
42. The Last Apprentice: Attack of the Fiend by Joseph Delaney

Melani:
46. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling
Yep, I watched the movie before finishing the book. Shameful. I did read about half the book on the day we won free tickets to see the midnight showing, but I didn't have quite enough time to finish the whole book. I read the first four books of the series aloud to Brishen starting when he was 5. Reading them aloud, a bit at a time for a bedtime story takes FOREVER and turned me against reading any more once he took over the reading on his own. When we got tickets to the movie, I thought it would be nice to go knowing what was going on. I couldn't believe how much more enjoyable the book was (not to mention how fast it can be read) when I was reading it to myself and not aloud! I vow to read the final book before the movie comes out.
47. The Art of Racing in the Rain by Garth Stein
Here is a book from a dog's point of view, a dog who is sure he's practically human, if only he didn't have such a massive tongue that prevents talking and his lack of thumbs. He also learned from a TV documentary that he will come back as a human once he dies, and he is fully looking forward to that day. His owner is a car racer, and he documents the struggles the family faces as the wife battles brain cancer and the grandparents try to win custody of the granddaughter. It's a great book with a really great ending!

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
