Basia, Age 6

Favorite colors: pink and black and white (she actually said "rosa, negro, and blanco")
Books she enjoys: She loves to check out Einstein's Compass from the library. She will sit on her bed for the longest time looking through stacks of books. I always wonder what she sees, and what she is thinking when she does that. She still prefers picture books to longer read-alouds, but she enjoyed Little House on the Prairie, Paddington Bear, and Flat Stanley books. She also seems to enjoy little history biographies, which is good news to me!
Favorite movies: Space Chimps and both Toy Story movies
Imaginary friend status: We don't hear from the imaginary friends quite as often these days. I think she's too busy to play with them as much as she'd like. Josh and January are still the two main friends, although I did hear that her newest imaginary friend is Woody, from Toy Story.
Fears: She's still afraid of loud noises or the possibility that there will be a loud noise. She doesn't like storms. She doesn't like to speak in front of a group and often prefers to not show off her skills in front of anyone but Mom.
Interests: She loves anything having to do with astronauts, firefighters, ambulances, soldiers (this is new), and superheros. She still loves to help in the kitchen. She begs to do science experiments, but she prefers the ones she makes up on her own. She really loves animals of all kinds, but penguins, meerkats, and koalas rank highest these days. She also is a fan of Abraham Lincoln.
Future career: Astronaut
Foods: When asked what she would like for her birthday dinner, she asked for macaroni and cheese. She also chose pickles to go along with it. On Tuesdays she gets to bring a sack lunch to her gym program, and here were her special requests: pb&j, string cheese, bell peppers, strawberries, and chocolate soy milk. That is her dream sack lunch.
Personality: Basia is definitely one of a kind. She is so helpful and caring. She makes friends wherever she goes, especially among adults. She has strong emotions and does not often hide them. She is very intuitive. She knows when something is not right and tries to make everything better. She can figure out how to do most things on her own and hates to be told how to do something. She adores her brother and would love to spend every moment of her life playing with him. She is a leader (bossy??) and likes to teach.
