Do you remember weeks (or even months) ago when I mentioned that Basia had her first loose tooth? I thought you might need an update. She has two loose teeth. She never touches them or wiggles them with her tongue. She has stopped eating apples, which used to be a daily and even twice-a-day occurrence before the loose teeth. She doesn't bite things with the front teeth anymore, and I'm not even sure she brushes them--I'm going to spy on her tonight. If you mention, as her dear Aunt Saralyn did one night, that sometimes dentists pull teeth, she has nightmares and refuses to ever see a dentist again. She is doing everything in her power to make sure those teeth never fall out.**
She did, however, let me know today what toothfairies leave when they take a tooth, along with the money: a toothbrush, stickers, stamps, meat, turkey, a lizard, and a meerkat. Times sure have changed.
**Let's compare this to what Brishen does when he notices a tooth might be loose. At the very first notice that a tooth is possibly wiggling slightly, he immediately gets to work on it and has it out before going to sleep that night. Luckily he only does it while reading in his bed, so I don't have to see his fingers way back in his mouth or see the drool or blood. I actually never even see the teeth he loses. I was a bit worried for a while that he had a special container somewhere full of his teeth. That could give me some serious nightmares. He has assured me that he properly disposes of them, so I am a little less wary of opening his drawers and dusting his shelves.
