Brishen:
80!!! Back to the Divide by Elizabeth Kay
As his unbiased mom, let me just say, "Wow!" Those 80 books do not count any of the books he read for school. We do a very literature-based education, so he easily read well over 100 books in 2009. You may think he sits around the house reading all day, but he'll tell you that he can't stand to read during the day, other than school assignments. Even when the rest of us are sitting around reading, he won't grab his own book. He read all those books at night, in his bed.
Melani:
77. Sway: The Irresistible Pull of Irrational Behavior by Ori Brafman
This book was good and along the lines of Outliers. It got me to thinking!
78. Daddy-Long-Legs by Jean Webster
This is more of a young-adult book, but it was the week after Christmas, I was trying to read 4 whole books, and I knew this was one I could get through quickly and really enjoy. I recommend it as a classic, quick read for those romantics out there.
79. Sarah's Key by Tatania de Rosnay
Robin and Saralyn: READ THIS! It tells of a little Jewish girl in France who is rounded up, along with her parents, by the French police. She locked her brother in their secret hiding place, sure that they would get to go home that night and let him free. It tells her story, the not-often-told story of what the French government did to their own citizens, and the story of a modern-day reporter in France who is trying to find out what happened to Sarah.
80!!! Angel of the Glade by Scott Mackay
This is a mystery set in the early 1900s, where a doctor tries to solve the small-town murder of a young actress. It wasn't a great book, but I needed something that I could read quickly to make it to 80 books by New Year's Eve.
