6th Grade Work is Working

See how intelligent and responsible he looks? I know I've already shared the above picture, but I am too lazy to take another one of him today to go with this post.

Brishen has now reached the level of grammar that is above what I ever learned. To be fair to Mrs. B., it is possible that I just forgot some of this. It is challenging for him, which is good. I have to go through and learn it ahead of him so I do not look dumb when he asks me a question. He just took his second test and is doing great so far. He is disappointed with the 94 he got on his second test today, but it's good for him to realize that he still has more to learn!

I am happy that the curriculum choices I have made for his 6th grade year are much more of a challenge than in previous years. By 7th grade, he will likely be seriously challenged in just about every subject. That's hard to do with this child. Here's what he is using this year:

Grammar: Analytical Grammar

Writing: Writing Strands 6

Science: Apologia General Science

Bible: Veritas Press

History: Well-Trained Mind recommendations for 6th grade Middle Ages

Spelling/Vocabulary: Vocabulary from Classical Roots

Logic: Introductory Logic

Spanish: Rosetta Stone

Latin: Latin Alive

Art: He'll take ceramics in El Paso

Music: Study of great composers from Middle ages/Renaissance

Math: Life of Fred Geometry then Jacobs Geometry

If you haven't noticed, I have given up on keeping a separate blog for homeschooling. That means I will sometimes post about homeschooling here. You can skip those posts if they bore you too much, but it does help me to get it on "paper" once in a while. It also serves as a record to one day look back upon.
