We continued our annual tradition of going to Grandmother's house to decorate eggs. She always has several cool ideas for decorating eggs, and this year was no exception (do you see how I resisted the temptation to say "eggception"?). The kids are using electrical tape to make cool lines on their eggs. I think this technique and the gluing embroidery floss onto blown eggs were my personal two new favorite techniques this year.

My nephew Camden got to decorate for the first time this year. He made a bit of a mess, dumped out a few cups full of dye, and was still colored various shades in all sorts of places 24 hours later. He ripped his eggs apart, too, just like Basia did at that age.

Basia and Aunt Diana are using the wax to make their eggs extra pretty. We're told that this will be the last year for the wax. Brishen dropped a whole egg into the hot wax that he could not remove. My mom later tried melting the wax with the egg in it in the microwave. Within a few seconds there was some sort of explosion, necessitating a new microwave or someone willing to spend many hours cleaning.

Brishen is using scrapbooking glue dots to add colorful sand circles to his eggs.

The eggs were abundant, but my mom had to actually go to the store to find white ones. Her hens lay theirs already colored in tans and green.

Here's a tie-dye egg.

Here's Brishen tie-dyeing an egg.

I am sorry to admit that I gave this little guy a yarmulke, I suppose because I saw so many in Jerusalem. I realize that he is likely upset to be wearing a yarmulke while being an EASTER egg.

OK, this isn't an egg, but I just had to show the amazing Easter card my mom made for us. It has little felt bunny finger puppets as part of the card!

Yesterday Brishen and Basia took turns hiding eggs for each other in our yard. We had to lock the dogs in the house so they wouldn't get eaten, but the kids had a lot of fun (and let me get some things done inside for a while).
HAPPY EASTER!
