Our Dear Caliches

Las Cruces is full of great restaurants and to-die-for Mexican food, but the must-have for us on our last night in town was Caliche's! It was our favorite place for a treat after a long hike and at other times when we wanted to be spoiled. For those of you who don't have the luxury of having a Caliche's near you (they are only in Cruces and Alamogordo), it is a great place for frozen custard with all sorts of mix-ins. They also will give your dog a little ice cream cone if you bring them with you. Jon tried their green chile Caliche once, but his favorite standby was peanut butter sauce/brownie bits. I loved the caramel sauce/Reece's Pieces. Brishen would go for a sundae with cheesecake bites on top, and Basia was all about the root beer floats!

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
