Basia on Dex, update

Yesterday found Basia a lot less sleepy on her medication.  I have to post because her behavior is SOOOO different on the medication.  She's still as busy as can be, but it's like she has a mission and a purpose and she won't stop until she has finished.

Yesterday she did page after page of paperwork on her own.  She turned blank copy paper into grids with careful vertical and horizontal lines, wrote all her numbers up to 100 on one page, counted by 10s, 5s, and 2s on another page, and did some addition facts on yet another page.  Then she wrote a story.  I cannot even tell you how big this is.  It is big.  Really, really big.  It's like she could get some of that stuff that is swimming in her head out on paper for the first time.  She again took blank paper and lined it herself and then wrote a full-page story about a cat and a dog.  Big, I tell you.  Big.

This morning she started cleaning her room, unasked.  She won't stop (and who am I to interfere?).  She is sorting drawers and bringing me tights that are too small and little rocks that she had hidden here and there.  It is so strange to see her like this, with a mission that she can carry to completion without getting distracted 30-seconds into it.

Did I mention that she has been doing extra reading and spelling with her Barton tiles just for fun?  I really hope this lasts and that the tiredness and sadness are gone.

That is absolutely amazing and I pray that it continues. I can't even imagine how good it feels to all of you to see some change. Give her a big hug from me! Love you and miss you. mom
