A New Tradition (for now)

We have busy evening schedules right now.  For example, here's what we have scheduled for this afternoon and evening:
3-6:15pm:  Melani coaches volleyball
3-4pm:  Brishen has computer club
6:30-8pm:  Basia has Mission Possible Kids, Brishen stays for 45 minutes of it
6:30-8pm:  Jon teaches a Bible study
7:30-8:30pm:  Melani and Brishen have Tae Kwon Do

Oh, and Jon is at work most of that time.

Here are some other factors at work:
Brishen is quickly approaching those super-growth years, and he's always hungry
Jon may or may not get lunch on any given day
Basia's meds make her lose her appetite for many hours in the middle of the day
I'm trying to wean my kids off of daily cold cereal for many different reasons

Our new tradition?

A big family breakfast!  Even my grandmother would be proud.

It is the only meal we eat all together at least 5 days a week, and it is really a nice way to start our day.  The kids do long for the days when they could pour themselves a bowl of cereal and call it good, but they are going to get used to these weird things I am feeding them (today was grits and yogurt sweetened with fruit puree; tomorrow I'll be making "bacon" from tempeh).  They are starting their days with various food groups, instead of just carbs.  They are a lot less hungry at snack time, and I don't feel guilty when supper is a sandwich on the go.

They can now pour them a bowl of cereal for supper! I do it many times a week. Mom
