Western Playland

This is the ride that always makes me think of Jon as a "think I'm so cool" rockin' teenager, since he tells about riding it over and over and over again with friends when they visited Western Playland all those years ago.  It plays loud rock music, and I can just see Jon with his puffy hair and young rockin' ways.  This ride is now one of our family favorites, as it doesn't frighten anyone or make anyone sick (as in me).  It did embarrass Brishen when I did some headbanging on one of our trips through it.

Basia's not brave enough to go on this ride, but she loves the splash zone.  Notice that one of us had to stay off the ride and far enough away from the splash zone to keep the camera dry.  One of the three of us stayed dry.

I think the bumper cars were the overall combined favorite.  The boys liked the big roller coaster the best, and the mom enjoyed the diet coke at a shady table the best, but we chose this as our final family ride.  I have a bruised ankle from getting out of my car, and Basia suffered a minor head injury from dangling her head outside the car at a moment of impact, but I'm pretty sure we'll all ride it again.
Here's a picture of Jon (the only one brave enough this time) on the bottom of the Drop Zone and then again feet dangling at the top right before he was dropped.
We had a great time.  We really don't get a lot of family time together, and this was a fun way to spend the afternoon.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
