I'm getting down to the last of our pictures from our Thanksgiving mini-vacay to Colorado Springs. I couldn't post pictures when we were there, so I am doing a little too much posting now. Gretchen and Basia made the microphone stand pictured above out of some of Grandma's toys. I just think it's a fun invention and a fun picture.
I am posting this one in honor of my father and some others in my family. Here's why: I have many memories of the Daves gang getting together for holidays. Often there would be a book passed around at such times (usually written by Patrick McManus). Invariably someone (often my dad) would get to chuckling out loud. That would drive the rest of us a little crazy, and we would have to know what was so funny. This repeated itself many times, over many holidays and family gatherings, and now it is part of my holiday memory bank, a tradition, I suppose. Grandma gave Brishen a Calvin and Hobbes book when we visited. He sat down on Thanksgiving Day and started chuckling out loud within minutes. To me it was the perfect Thanksgiving sound!
