Thanksgiving

For the first time ever, Jeanne got to host Thanksgiving dinner, and you would never have guessed that it was her first time.  The food was all delicious (Grandma made the Tofurkey), and we will be back again another year.  Tyler is king of desserts and is in charge of all family pies from this point forward, if I have any say.  Jeanne had a craft for the kids to do.  She had a Thanksgiving poem for us to read together.  A favorite moment was when Grandma decided to improvise a bit on her reading.  We thought she was going to say something sentimental about being thankful for her children or grandchildren, but she surprised us all with saying that she is thankful for little dogs.  She had just seen Jeanne's new puppy outside the window and wanted to include him.  We did all laugh, though, since she didn't mention being thankful for us and that's what we were all expecting.

Gretchen was nice enough to share her pilgrim's hat with me.
We all braved the frigid weather to go on a Thanksgiving scavenger hunt.  Jeanne, Basia, and Gretchen claim the victory since they saw 13 live deer while the rest of us counted a lawn decoration.

The little girls made big messes while the rest of us played several games:  Perudo, San Juan, Guillotine, and Grass.  All-in-all, it was a wonderful day, and I got to be pretty lazy and just enjoy it.

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
