Jon and I just got back from a wonderful clergy marriage retreat called "Renew". Can I just say that sometimes clergy and their families get a bit spoiled, and this was definitely one of those times! It was an all-expense paid three day retreat at the Lodge in Cloudcroft with five other clergy couples very near our age. The food was amazing, and we will have to eat nothing but toast for weeks to make up for the desserts that went along with every meal. We got to stay in a wonderful suite, walk around the golf course and through Cloudcroft in our free time, and stand by the crackling fire in the lobby (I tried to share the heat, but my dad knows that I don't do that so well).
Then there was the actual program. We got to learn more about ourselves, our marriage, and church leadership. Most of all, it was a time to just be together, renew our commitment to our marriage and come up with plans to keep growing, personally and as a couple.
Good stuff!
