Alpaca Farm

We went on field trip number one before most kids have even headed back to school.  That's the homeschool way!  We got to tour a local alpaca farm today, and they sure are cute.  They would have been even cuter if the temperature were 15 or so degrees cooler.

This guy is Basia's favorite one.

They had a large supply of grain and nugget thingies to feed the animals.  That led to lots of fun and slobber.

I was the first person in our giant homeschool gathering who was brave enough to stick my hand in the camel's slimy mouth.  Some of you may remember that I have experience with camel feeding.  It is fully disgusting but also a bit addicting.  Our group was the first to venture way down to the camel area, so we fed him for a long time before the other groups were taught the proper technique (oops) and allowed to each feed him once (oops).  Oh, well.  Winging it is a lot more fun, and we certainly got to feed him a lot of extra times.

This was definitely a fun destination and one we may drag some family to see the next time they are in town!

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
