We started bright and early with a parade. I just KNEW the toddlers would be fans (well, there was that little part of me that was scared that the noise would scare one or more of the kids). Well, they were fans. Mr. Strut was excited to wave to the cars before they were even parade cars, so he was doubly pleased when it wasn't just regular traffic passing.
They liked the goat and the horses best, I think. People throwing candy was pretty exciting, too. Basia liked to see the Young Marines (which was scary to me because now she knows she's old enough for some sort of military participation). Brishen's too cool to admit he liked anything, but I'm thinking he enjoyed the zombie apocalypse. The babies were angels, just taking it all in.
The fun thing about this summertime El Paso parade was the use of water guns by floats and audience alike. The people in the floats squirted the audience, and those in the know had waterguns with them to shoot the varmints back. Can you see the guy in the tub? He was fair game for the super soakers!
We topped off the festivities with some family, food, and pool time. It was a lovely day, indeed.
