Thanksgiving

1st of all, I want to apologize to my faithful reader(s).  Just when I was trying to get back to regular blogging, my internet stopped working for a week.  Now I am behind on my blogs once again.  Forgive me.  Or don't.  I'll never know.  Look, I actually made a Thanksgiving craft.  Jon laughed and laughed when he saw the yarn and heard that I was going to make something.  He questioned my sanity...which is often in question, so I wasn't hurt.  Here is our thankful turkey.

We had Jon's mom and sister and her family over for the holiday,   It was so nice to have them here.  They think they are a big burden, but we loved having them here and hope they come back often!  The kids had a blast, and I promise you that I did not mind having extra hands on deck to hold little ones, read stories, and play outside!  Below you can see the victors coming in from their hunt the first night of the visit.  Poor cousin Gretchen's beloved giant bear was the first to be slain.

Grandma got in on the violence, too:

As I've said before, we happen to have a lot of leaves in our yard right now.  One afternoon, Jon blew them all into a big pile for fall jumping fun.  This is literally the only picture I have where my little ones are hidden.  You can't see anyone else, either, but oh, well.

Jon has dreamed of having a fire pit ever since we moved into this house.  He finally just bought one.  We have been enjoying it.  One night, Jeanne and Tyler went and got the makings for smores, so we enjoyed it even more.

Yes, I prepared even a second Thanksgiving craft.  Chocolate was involved, so you're probably less surprised about this one.  The kids each made an Oreo turkey to mark their place a the table.

We spent our Black Friday as far away from stores as possible.  Instead we had a lovely brunch at my mom's house.  Everything was so delicious, and it was great to spend the morning with family and not in line at some store.  My mom had activities and goody bags for the kids.  Basia has used her glasses straw daily since the brunch.

Before Jon's family hit the road, we celebrated Jeanne's birthday with early morning singing and leftover chocolate pie.   I like when Jeanne has a birthday because it means she is as old as I am again.  Those two months in between were funny when I got to turn twenty and twenty-one before she did.  Now they are just plain annoying.

Brishen and Graeme played games virtually every second of their visit.  I would occasionally rip them away to make them play outside or eat a meal.  Otherwise, they were deep in a game of some sort.  Brishen will go through withdrawals now or maybe get back to his addiction of online chess, all in the name of the chess club I willingly singed him up for, of course.  Basia and Gretchen were inseparable, too, going on many an outdoor adventure.

I warn you that I completed this blog post without wearing my glasses (I was only up to feed an early morning bottle), so typos and other nonsense can surely be blamed on that.

What fun! I wish we could have joined you, but I'm glad you made it through the holiday with everyone healthy! :D

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
