September, Part 2

After almost 3 years, Brishen got his braces off on his 15th birthday.  I think he would have preferred another day, but he is happy to have them removed.

Brishen loves funny or geeky t-shirts.  This is one of the ones he got for his birthday.  Jon has corrupted him!

Yes, I even made him pose with the chalk board.  My time is running out to treat him as a child!

He had never had an ice cream cake, so that's what he wanted this year.  That made it easy on me!  I won't tell him that it is possible to make an ice cream cake at home.  Shh.

We found this scary guy in our sandbox.  Ick!  I sure hope there aren't more!  Miss Independent is a bug whisperer, so she would be responsible for taking care of it.  Yesterday the kids ran in to tell me that they found a dragonfly.  I told them that it was great that they found a dragonfly.  Then they told me Miss Independent was holding it.  I knew that was bad news for the dragonfly.  She came in to show me the dragonfly.  He happened to be a wasp.  Yes, a wasp.  In her bare hand.  I asked her to put her dragonfly down and go back outside.  I then let them know that the dear dragonfly was relocated to the front yard.  Yeah, that was my story.  I couldn't let them see me stomp on their new friend.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
