Off Limit Topic?

What's off limits for talking about on a blog such as this?  Where is the line between embarrassing your child and simply documenting monumental moments for eternity?  I've held out on this blog post for a week now since I just wasn't sure if I should share it.  I do want to remember it for always, though, so I'll share while being vague and changing the names of the innocent.  :)

I have this...friend...who has this daughter.  Let's call this daughter Basia, um, I mean, Piper.  Piper came to me, I mean, my friend, last week with a request and a declaration.  This mom was informed that the daughter has, um, grown and would be needing her first bra.  Wow.  That was unexpected and unknown by the mom in the picture.  The mom was pleased that the daughter was so comfortable coming right out with the request, and promises to shop for the right equipment were made.

Later, the daughter actually showed the mom this growth, which I will now call the "alleged growth."  Um, there was no growth.  The area in question looked just as it did way back when.  The mom tried to act impressed and not confused, but I'm not sure she totally pulled it off.

After some thought, this mom decided that something was fishy.  She was once a young girl, so it was not hard to imagine where this request originated.

This mom friend of mine:  "Sweety, do a lot of your friends wear bras now?"  (This daughter does have lots of older friends at church.)

Basia Piper:  "Well, Tennessee's (friend's name changed to protect the innocent) mom just bought her a bra."

Bingo!  Tennessee has a bra.  Piper did not wish to be left behind.

Shopping was done.  Baby bras were purchased and are now religiously worn.  Even though this girl is not yet growing in that particular way, she is growing up.  I thought she would want to be one of the guys forever more, but this shows that her tomboy ways are not the whole story of who she is.  A young lady is peeking her head out and testing the waters of who she will one day become.  I can't wait to be part of the ride!
