Favorite Clothes

I am good at making predictions.  When I hang up or fold certain pieces of clothing, I can predict with 100 percent accuracy that a certain child will emerge wearing a certain article of clothing the very next time they get dressed.
For Soren, the above is his absolute favorite go-to outfit.  He considers those (ugly) jeans to be Batman jeans, and I have never figured out why.  If they are clean, he is wearing them.  The same is true of that shirt.  It is a shirt that his first mom gave him at a visit, and he is a big Spiderman fan.  I'm personally not a fan of character clothing, but what's a mom to do? When we have somewhere to go, I try to do the outfit selections, but this summer has given us lots of days at home, and the kids are enjoying free reign of their closets.

It's not a great picture, but this is the article of clothing that is worn every single time it is hung in her abundant closet.  It's missing some of the sequins after 1000 washes, but it's still her very favorite outfit.

Zade and Tobias each have a shirt like this one that they wear any time it is clean.  Zade prefers to wear his with these ugly dark brown cargo pants.  The dark brown cargo pants are his favorites because he prefers pants to shorts, and I have packed away most of his pants for the hot summer.  He loves that I forgot to pack away that one pair.  Tobias isn't as picky about the shorts, but he does love to pair plaid shorts with anything and everything, and the combinations are usually pretty scary.

Edison is most comfortable wearing as little as possible.  If you drop by our house unannounced and find him fully clothed, a miracle is being witnessed.

Basia will wear anything super sporty (but no matchy-matchy sports "outfits").  She prefers things that don't match at all and that she has found on the bottom of her closet somewhere.

Brishen doesn't really have a go-to outfit, but I can tell without a doubt when it is time for him to do laundry.  He has his assortment of geek-wear shirts that he likes.  If he is wearing any sort of shirt that he got for free at an event, he must have reached the far away corners of his closet.  He may love Robotics camp, but he definitely will not be wearing that shirt again.  He may have rocked that 5K race, but the t-shirt will never again see the light of day.  If I see a shirt like either of these, I know, know, know that he's getting desperate for clean clothes.  Luckily I finally started having him do his own laundry, so he can be the one to blame!

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
