Good Day

A treat from my husband!

I heard these words today:  "Unless there is some miracle, we will not reunify him."

Roo's case worker came for her monthly visit.  I could tell where his case was going, but it was nice to hear the case worker agree.  The nine month hearing is a couple weeks away.  His parents have only three months left to accomplish everything on their service plan.  If they work on it tirelessly for the next three months, they will get him back.  Otherwise we have agreed to adopt him.  I can't imagine our life without him or his without us, so my fingers are crossed.  Foster parents are not supposed to want to keep their foster child, but nine months into a case, the bonds are strong, especially when the child comes as a newborn!

We also had a visit from the adoption worker today.  The last time we saw Soren's and Tobias' attorney, he said we should be on some sort of frequent adopters' program.  It seems he was right.  The adoption worker came in, and we signed the required paperwork. She decided we didn't need a new homestudy since our last adoptive homestudy is from last month.  She decided she didn't need to explain anything this time since she was just here explaining everything a month or so ago.  The visit lasted about 5 minutes.  Everything is on track for us to adopt next week.  Whew!

It is so surreal to me.  Will 7 of these kids really and truly be mine next week?  I still get teary sometimes when I get to share a picture of Cassia or Edison.  This time next week, I will only have to cover the baby's face.  Every other child in my home will be MY really and truly child.  Really and truly.  Really!

Wow!
