Things They Say

...that I don't want to forget:

Soren:  smashpotatoes (instead of mashed potatoes)

Edison:  oatmilk (instead of oatmeal)

All of them except Edison:  Gram-duller (instead of Grandmother)

All of them:  lasterday (instead of yesterday)

Roo:  get (instead of bottle, as in "can you get me a bottle," so he thinks they are called "get")

All of them:  dude-it (this is their go-to naughty word, and it makes them laugh mightily)

Soren:  Chicken is an animal and chicken is a food??  That's weird. (vegetarianism in his future?)

Brishen:  Cher-ee-o-kee (he's going to kill me for adding this, but he's called his grandparents' new vehicle a Chereokee more than once)

Soren and Tobias:  at my white house (what they call the time before they lived with us)

Soren:  batman hair (the style he most often requests, which I interpret to mean brushed straight down)

Zade:  rock star hair (a faux hawk)

Roo: uh (he just can't get the "oh" part of uh-oh, no matter how hard he tries!)

Tobias:  Zade just... (he's my resident tattle-tale)

All of them:  Can I do work at the table?  (meaning coloring, writing, or drawing at the kitchen table)

Basia:  How much to ice skates cost?  (we live in El Paso!!)

Edison:  I'm sick (meaning he wants to snuggle)

Cassia:  (eye roll) (this is a very common sign of her exasperation with her brothers)

The school three:  Is it a school day or a stay home day?  (the question that begins every day)

Soren:  and then what?  (no matter how detailed an itinerary you give him, he wants to know what comes after the last item you mentioned)

All of them:  Can you tuck me in?  (every single child asks me this every single night even though I have been known to do it every single night and don't really need prompting)

*"All of them" doesn't include Brishen or Basia or Roo, so it is a fairly misleading term

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
