At Which Point I Dump A Whole Lot of Random on You:

So, do you think I held on to his "baby hair" for too long?  It took me forever to want to give up his baby mullet and give him his first haircut.  First I waited until his birthday.  Then I waited until his big court date.  Then I waited until his next big court date (so I wouldn't have to ask his birth mom for permission).  Then I had to make sure I had his case worker's permission.  Then I still waited.  I knew the baby would be gone with a few snips of the hair, but I finally decided enough was enough.  Luckily, he still looks like a baby, and he certainly acts like a baby (at 3am, that is).

Our daily life is full out countless silly things and issues and normalcies that might not actually seem normal to others.  I'll give you one glimpse into our lives:  Edison would rather not wear pants, and if he has to wear pants, he'd prefer to skip the underwear.  One morning I was trying to outsmart him by getting the kids to take a vote as to which underwear he would choose for himself.  He thought our interest was awesome, so he chose a great pair.  Those who had guessed correctly cheered.  He beamed and then ran back to his bedroom and switched to a different pair.  You can see from his bedroom floor how many times he changed his choice to amuse the masses.

No, we haven't taken up drinking.  This was a gift from Zade.  He found it by our neighbor's house when they were biking out front.  He brought the empty (germy?) bottle to me as proud as can be and shouted, "Mom, I found this golden cup for you!!"

I just don't know why he doesn't have success working from home.
They all made peanut butter balls for snack, and it was funny to see the differences.  Cassia's were the most perfect.  Soren's were varied and creative.  Zade's were mostly in his tummy.  Edison just licked the spoon.  Tobias's were all over his shirt, face, pants, and floor.

I don't think we are cool enough, but we went to a good friend's album release party.  He's 12.  He's written, produced, and released his first album.  His application is in to unseat Prince as the Guinness Record Holder for the youngest record producer!  This is real, folks!  And we know him!  And we're just not cool enough!  These are the (hilarious) rock star poses of my kids as we headed to the party.

Brandon Bailey Johnson, our buddy!

After the party, we waited an hour for our pizza to come out.  That's fun with a large number of hungry little ones who have just sat through an album release and listening party.  I wanted to cry, but the kids did a good job of it for me.  I am calling it worth it (though I now need therapy) because of this picture alone.
This could have been such a beautiful picture had not my oldest felt the need to give a angry school marm scowl to purposefully mess up any photographic proof that he, too, enjoys life.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
