We had our first media free week. We plan to turn off all screens during the first week of every month, and April was our first try. It was mostly a lot easier than I expected. The kids did fine and never complained. Brishen and I missed music like crazy, though, so we are going to try to do a modified rule next month that allows CDs to be played. I will admit that I haven't been playing music as much since that week off, so maybe I did learn to enjoy the quiet more than I thought. We did use screens for school and work and to communicate with others but tried to keep it down to a minimum.
Basia was confirmed in our church. She was able to mark the "member" box on the attendance log for the first time ever and put her first real tithe in the offering plate on the same Sunday.
I went to a homeschool conference in Albuquerque with Erica! It was the first time I was a way from Asa over night. I learned a lot and was given vision for the next school year's main focus for our family. Jon took four children to the dentist when I was gone. Woo-hoo.
The five younger boys joined me for a Mother/Son Dance for our homeschool group. I don't have pictures, but they were soooooo adorable when they were dancing. Zade danced like I have never seen, and I soaked it deep into my memory to cherish. Soren won a trophy for the limbo contest. Edison and Asa acted almost human once the food was served :). Tobias is usually my dancing man, but he prefers Cassia as his dance partner. My boys did all sorts of break dancing moves that wowed the other moms. I can take absolutely no credit. My boys have shown me how break dancing, gymnastics, and parkour were invented--they like to have fun and try all sorts of crazy things with their bodies. I could spend all sorts of money and time letting them perfect all these natural tendencies, but, for now, I just let them have fun and show off at dance parties :).
I have some pictures, but I can't find my camera. They'll have to be added later. I am not on the computer enough to blog very often, but I will try to get at least a monthly highlight post and monthly pictures. That will have to do for now.
