 Now We Know

We now have evidence that it hurts worse to have a brother fall from the loft on top of you than it does to fall from the loft, though falling from the loft may be more traumatic.  Jotham was handing Asa a big comforter down over the edge of the loft and fell on top of him.  It was mayhem and took some sorting before we were able to understand what happened with both little ones screaming, Zade crying and acting like he was involved (he wasn't but was horrified by seeing it), and the shock of it all.

Jotham ran down to me as I ran up to him so I knew he was whole.  He had a bit of soreness but couldn't even remember where it hurt a few minutes later.  I did have to move him down to the lower level, though, because the loft is way too scary for him to sleep now.  Poor baby!

Asa was in a crumpled heap upstairs when I found him.  He said his leg was twisted back, and he couldn't walk.  I held him and calmed him and tried to look things over and coax him to walk to see how serious the injury was.  He couldn't/wouldn't walk for us, but we could see he could hold weight on it at least briefly.  We gave him pain reliever and got him to sleep in hopes that we would know more in the morning.  He ran into our room at 3am announcing that I was right and that the pain reliever did make it better.  He is still sore today but seems to be getting around just fine.  There's no swelling or outward signs of damage.

We have decided to call ourselves lucky.  It could have been so much worse for either of them.

Back At It

Jon was fully back in the office again today, which is the first time since we started our new school year two weeks ago.  It is nice bumping into him from time to time.  He came up during our lunch break and enjoyed the DJing of Brishen and Basia as well as the carrot sticks.

Edison was cute today and kept stepping in to help Jotham with his school when I was busy with someone else. Here he is listening to Jotham read.

Asa and Cassia made turtles with root beer floats.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
