Ok, so I'm afraid to say that I'm still too tired to give a detailed blog of my marathon. I will get energy again, but today's not the day. It's a good thing I actually agreed to let Brishen take a week off of school this week. Here's what happened on day one of Spring Break:
Brishen:
1. hours and hours of listening to books on tape (Pillar of Fire--very long one set in ancient Egypt, and Shakespeare--4 plays retold by Bruce Coville) while rebuilding Lego sets
2. reading books set in Middle Ages that he is supposed to eventually read for school. I'm guessing he'll be done with much of his Middle Ages reading during this break, since he grabbed yet another one to read tonight in bed. Does anyone want to explain to him what a break is??
3. doing a challenging math workbook that I picked up at COAS this weekend. Again, does he know how to take a break??
4. taking a 3 mile walk with mom. OK, maybe he's not the only one who doesn't know how to take a day or so off.
Basia:
1. camping and playing with Josh (imaginary friend) and lots of Josh's friends.
2. brushing Ruby's fur (her favorite stuffed puppy) and explaining why she needs to wet it to make it look right.
3. starting her own business. She is currently selling various empty Easter eggs, a small canister of play-doh, and toy cameras. It's very nice of her (though maybe not such a good business practice) to give the customer the money to buy the items.
Melani:
1. watching the PBS Masterpiece Theatre version of Jane Austen's Emma. I KNOW how to relax!
2. continuing to compile my lists of books for readings once we finish studying the Middle Ages.
3. trying to figure out which of my toes are going to be fine and which just might lose a toenail.
4. absolutely NO cleaning of any sort, no matter how much the house needs it.
Jon:
1. Work as usual--you didn't really think he'd get Spring Break, too, did you??

I also spent part of the morning out in the yard watering and tending green growing things.
In the evening I watched "The Guardian." Great movie! Hadn't seen it before.
Most of the day was, as Melani stated, spent working.
