Oh, What a Day

Today we got to see Granddad's new chicks. Both kids got to hold one for a minute. Basia spent the rest of the day asking if she could go back to see them again.
Grandmother invited us to a lovely brunch while Grandma is visiting. The food was wonderful (fudge, anyone?), and it was really nice just spending time together.

Each year we try to take a picture of Brishen standing in front of Grandma to compare heights. It is getting a little difficult to see Grandma back behind Brishen, and he hasn't even reached double digits, yet.

Yes, side by side is a little better these days.

Here's Basia all ready for water play day with the homeschool group.

Jon enjoys water day as much as the kids do, and we're told it just wouldn't be water day without him. Aren't they a serious bunch of water squirters?

We lasted without an air conditioner until today, but the desert heat is finally starting to get to us. The kids really feel the need to be up on the roof to help Jon out. I just try not to watch. I did help Basia climb down the ladder, though. She climbed the whole way down with one hand because she had Josh (her imaginary friend) cupped in her other hand.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
