Day 2 of Summer

The first weeks of summer are always extra fun. We really enjoy the community activities and all the things to do. Today was another full day. In addition to a regular school day at home, we:

...
ran bilingual storytime. My co-leader is still out of town, so Brishen read the books in English and I read them in Spanish. Since school is out, we had a big group of kids there today.
... did our civic duty.
... had lunch at the park. The kids love the school cafeteria-size chocolate milk!

...
went swimming. I didn't get in the pool today, so the kids entertained themselves. Brishen had a great time teaching Basia some technique. He even offered to pay her if she did some real swimming (face in the water, arms moving, and legs kicking). I saw her do it, but I had no idea that he offered her money until we got home.

...
I like these two pictures because they show that each kid was having a blast. These are the moments that melt a mom's heart.
...
I forgot to take a picture, but we also went back to the library to redeem our first reading contest prizes. Basia got her sticker and bookmark for listening to two hours worth of stories. Brishen got his bookmark and sticker and also a prize out of the treasure chest for reading four hours so far. The librarian had to go find the treasure chest because he was the very first one to be redeeming his second prize.
