Jon is now at Jurisdictional Conference as an alternate delegate. He's already been to General Conference and Annual Conference. The main job of Jurisdictional Conference is to vote in three new bishops. We drove him to the airport on Wednesday, and he was saying that he didn't really think he would ever get to sit on the floor and do any voting or anything else while he was there, being an alternate.
He called yesterday afternoon to let us know that he did actually get to sit on the floor and vote for a bishop while the main delegate took a break. Not only that, he got his name on the nomination board for bishop with an actual vote! No one from our conference admitted to putting him there, so the nomination and vote remain a mystery. You have to have 170-some votes to become bishop, so he's still safe from that job, but it was still an honor.
