Why Rearrange Furniture Near a Holiday???

Yes, tomorrow is a holiday, and we will be having family over to celebrate and enjoy. That means I should have spent today mopping floors, generally cleaning the house, and preparing food. Instead I decided to move furniture. That sounds fairly tame, but I decided to REALLY move furniture, as in switch everything in my front entry room into the living room and everything from the living room into the front entry. You still aren't impressed with the enormity of what I did?? That meant I had to move my books. I have a lot of books. Just look and see. The picture above shows the kids hanging out on the couch as the couch hung out in the middle of the doorway. The pictures below show the books I had to move, in addition to all the furniture.
Both kids helped out.

Here they are. All the books off my homeschooling bookshelves (these piles do not include 7 cubbies full of picture books from Basia's room or the one bookshelf full of books in the living room that got to stay put for now). I really need all these books. Really. I'm serious. Leave me alone! We all have our vices.

Here's the holiday part of our day. We went to our town's electric light parade tonight. Basia put her glow sticks around her and turned into "Light Boy with the power to be helpful!" The parade's theme this year seemed to be just for Basia--many of the floats were rocket themed to celebrate our future spaceport.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
