Sorry, I just have to let you know of two Olympic sports that drive me a little batty:
Men's Synchronized Diving (it just reminds me of the two guys in my junior high class who liked to wear matching shirts to school--a little weird)
Rhythmic Gymnastics (I held my tongue because I thought Basia may like their costumes or the dance-aspect of it, but she didn't seem to care)
Brishen dislikes water polo. Basia likes it all, especially if it means she gets to watch TV at night and possibly go to bed a bit late. When I asked Jon what he liked least, he echoed both of my choices and then Brishen's. He finally added that he doesn't like the volleyball because of his own lack of skill in the area and basketball because of the lack of surprise winners.
Brishen loves anything having to do with fencing. Both kids like the diving events and all the strange events that they never knew existed. They watch, at most, an hour of Olympics a day, so they are missing a lot more than they are seeing, but I'm trying to get them a bit of lots of different events. I try to have Basia watch the running events in order to convince her that the starter pistol really isn't that bad. She is insisting of diving lessons, but I insist that she learn to swim in the deep end without floaties first. She also asked how old she has to be before she can ride a horse over those big jumps. I let her know that she has to be quite old to do that.
