Western Playland

Well, I forgot my camera on a big day with lots of fun. We went to Western Playland (thanks, Aunt Saralyn!), a nearby amusement park. My kids are getting so grown up! There were rides that Brishen wasn't fond of and others that Basia wouldn't try. It was interesting how Brishen would do the big roller coaster and the big drop ride but wouldn't ride the yo-yo swings. Basia rode the swings over and over again but wouldn't dare ride those other two.

All in all, both kids had a blast and rode just about everything. We started in the "kiddy" section and quickly determined that it would drive us crazy to stay there too long. We told Basia that she is now five and could probably handle most of the big kid rides. She amazed us by her willingness to try them and actually enjoy them. She was right around the height requirement for several rides, and luckily they let her pass. It's hard to believe that this is the same child that cried on the carousel at Disneyland less than a year ago.

Jon and I did get VERY sick on one of the rides and had to sit out for at least half an hour. It was a spinning ride, and the operator thought he was being nice by keeping it going and going and going. It was torture. I think I will have nightmares about the ride that would never end.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
