What have I begun? Men love to make fun of women who travel in packs to the bathroom. I've never been one of those women, but I may just be raising one.
I have been watching a sweet little two-year-old girl for at least a couple days a week for the last two years. She was potty-trained very near her second birthday last June, but she is not the type of girl who would ever "go on command" for me. There are times when it is really nice to be able to tell a newly-potty-trained one to go potty, for example before nap time or before we head out somewhere.
I found a perfect solution. Peer pressure. I learned to say, "Girls, it's time to go potty before your nap." Basia is a big helper, so she played along right away. Basia would sit on the toilet, and little E would sit on her little potty chair. Problem solved.
It has now been many months. I would love to put away the little potty chair and have everyone use the regular toilet, but both girls have come to love the social peeing. They ask for books. They take forever. They chat happily and always take care of business. Their future husbands will have to blame me for getting them started.
