Our Thanksgiving

Part One

We got out of bed early to brave the freezing temperatures (31 degrees to start) to join the Turkey Trot 5K race in town. Jon did really well, considering he doesn't run very often (once every few months). Brishen was an awesome big brother and walked and jogged with Basia so that Jon and I didn't have to stay back. Basia was the only girl under the age of 11 to participate in the 5K, so she won the first place ribbon for her age group. She cried through the starter pistol but let us know after the race that she "thinks she could run a 7K." I won the overall women's champ of the walking category for the third year in a row. I really love starting Thanksgiving this way each year. I love that, for a while, we are focused on something besides the food and the TV.

Part Two

We got to the business at hand, which was food, family, and fun! Saralyn had us over for Thanksgiving dinner, and it was all awesome. Saralyn used those fancy dishes that I had harassed her about never using when she moved. We watched some Myth Busters, looked through all the Black Friday ads, and then snuck in a little football even though it was expressly forbidden at Saralyn's house.
Part Three

We "rested our eyes," a little bit more fat and happy.

Brishen's Birthday, Too

We were in Sacramento on Brishen's birthday, but we made it home to celebrate the next day.  He wanted green chile potato corn chowder...
