I should also mention that Brishen has used his Tae Kwon Do in real life to stick up for himself, and we are pretty impressed. Once a friend kept jumping on his back during theater class. The teachers told him to stop, but the kid would not listen. Brishen said that he felt he had to do something about it since the kid would not listen to the teachers, so he did a double elbow strike when the kid next jumped on him. That solved the problem. Another time a girl was showing off and had knocked down a friend of his by punching and kicking him (amazing what some do for fun). When she tried it on Brishen, he had a block for every single move she tried. She was amazed, as was everyone watching. Another time, Brishen and Basia were home playing in Basia's room when I got back from a walk. They hadn't heard me enter the house, and when I opened the bedroom door, I started them. Brishen was instantly in a TKD position, without even thinking. Brishen has always been a pretty confident kid, but it is nice to know that he now has increased confidence, increased body control, and a tool kit of moves to use if the need ever should arise.
