After some trauma--she cried and begged me to pull it because of how strange it felt just hanging there as she tried to talk or eat--I pulled the very loose top tooth from Basia's mouth. It is crazy how different she looks and how different she talks. She now has a mouth that looks a lot like her visiting cousin, Graeme's!

We can also mark May 22, 2010, as the end of magical creatures in the Moore household. Basia came in from playing outside with her younger cousin, Gretchen. She yelled, "MOOOOOM, Gretchen told me that the tooth fairy is just your mom! Is that true?" I said my timid, "yes." She said, "Gretchen also told me that the Easter Bunny is just your mom, too. Is that true?" I noticed that she seemed to be taking the news with a smile, so I answered more confidently, "Yes." She laughed and went back outside. When she came back in, I decided to end it all once and for all and asked her if Gretchen also told her Santa was just her mom. Gretchen hadn't told her that one, but I'm actually happy to be done with all the games. She thought it was all pretty funny. She later asked me what I did with her other teeth. I told her that I threw them in the trash. She said that she would rather collect them. That's kind of gross but very typically Basia. She woke this morning to a dollar on the side table, and she is quite happy that it is from her mom and not from some strange creature flying into her room at night.
